8:30am Easter Service
There are four services here on Sunday, so far I have been to the 8:30 and 10:00. This afternoon, we will go down the road a bit and have a 3:00 service in another part of town, then return here for a final service at 5:00. Phew! I won't usually attend all services, but today they want me to be introduced all around. I recognized one song by the tune, Power in the Blood.
They passed out hard boiled eggs that had been dyed red, an Orthodox tradition around here, but they decided to use them to remind people of the blood that Jesus shed. Several people from Muslim and Orthodox backgrounds spoke about what the red eggs meant to them as children, and what they can represent now.
There is another short-term missionary sharing the apartment's kitchen and living room, David, who arrived the day before I did, from Macedonia. It's nice to have a fellow American to wave to in a room full of babbling Albanians! He's here to serve where ever he's needed, and Michael really likes him, so that's nice. Last night we went to a youth outreach drama a few blocks away, Jane sat with me and Michael sat with David, while the kids' parents organized the drama. I didn't understand a word they spoke or sang, but it was interesting!
Jane, last night the musical
Michael
(For those of you who haven't seen Mary Poppins in a while, Jane and Michael are the names of the two children that require a nanny. That's why I use those names.)
Well, David is going shopping for his lunch, and I told him I wanted to tag along and watch, so I'll sign off now. Happy Easter, everyone!
Yeah, Dad was confused there about Jane and Michael. :)
